Summer Solstice

In the Northern Hemisphere, today is the longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice, when the sun is at its maximum strength and power. This solar festival is called Alban Hefin in Druidry, and it marks another turn in the Wheel of the Year. It is an opportunity to acknowledge the deep and mysterious connection between our lives and the rhythm of the seasons.

Alban Hefin, The Light of the Shore, speaks to the reality that we are at the mid-point of the year. This festival marks a turning point from the maximum power of the sun towards shorter days and the sun’s power diminishing.

Now is a time to celebrate the light of the sun and the abundance of the earth. It is a time of love and friendship. It is a time of joy, renewal, and growth.
